Ortho Tri Cyclen is prescribed to prevent pregnancy, regulate the menstrual cycle, treat symptoms of menopause, or treat other conditions. Although, the estrogen and progestin combination of Ortho Tri-Cyclen can be used to balance hormones, it does not prevent any sexually transmitted diseases. Smoking while using Ortho Tri-Cyclen increases the chance of having heart disease; therefore, it is not recommended.
